Samsung Galaxy Tab to be released next week

Samsung’s newest android tablet Galaxy Tab is creating a buzz as its release date approaches.

The tablet is set to be launched in Germany on September 2. The Galaxy Tab boasts of a 7-inch colored screen with multitouch capabilities, runs on Google’s Android 2.2 OS (also known as Froyo), a Swype virtual keyboard, JavaScript.15, SyncML and Flash Support.

Other specifications are its Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth and GPS, 16GB internal storage space, a microSD slot that supports up to 32GB. It also has a ARM Cortex A8 processor, 1.2 GHz processor and a PowerVR SGX540 graphics chip, a camera at the front with a 240 x 320 resolution and one at the back with a 2048 x 1536 pixels with autofocus.

Samsung Galaxy Tab website has a video that shows its great features like video calling, full web browsing, HD Movie playing, and e-book reader capabilities. The design is much like of an Apple iPad but not totally the same as its competitors. The text input method is through a virtual keyboard that supports Swype, a technology that the company endorses.

In comparison, the iPad has a 9.7-inch multitouch display, bigger than the 7-inch of the Galaxy Tab. The iPad runs on Apple’s iOS while Galaxy Tab operates with Android 2.2 OS called “Froyo.” When it comes to processors, Apple developed and created their own A4 processors for their iPads while Samsung uses 1GHz ARM processor.

Samsung’s upcoming tablet will be in the running for the best tablet in the world. It can also ride with the trend of increased tablet sales and serve as an alternative. If customers see that it is as functional and sleek as an iPad and if the price is reasonable, chances are they will purchase it instead of Apple’s tablet.
